It was actually great, probably because I didn't expect anything from it.
I remember vaguely when it came out and flopped at the box office, so I did not even try watching it back then. I just gave it a chance today after it became the classic "ahead of its time" movie, and I really felt it was. This was not at all what the audience might have expected of Mahesh Babu.
It's not the usual MB movie where he beats goons easily and the ladies are drooling over his beauty and aura. Instead, it is a great mystery thriller that kept me fully engaged throughout. Yes, there are flaws, but it came out in 2014 and those are just some of the usual commercial tropes injected to satisfy the mass audience. If they had fully committed to the idea of non-mass storytelling, it could have been even better.

mostly missing the shot but still better than 'safe films' that settle with taking singles and vanishing
