Alpha

2026 Hindi MovieAdventure Action Thriller
POWERED BYJustWatch

A genetically enhanced assassin hunts those tied to a secret military program, only to uncover a buried family history that changes what her revenge means.

The Cine Column
As the first female‑led tentpole in YRF’s Spy Universe, Alpha arrives with
ambitious intent. Yet despite placing two powerhouse women—Alia Bhatt and Sharvari—at its center, the film suffers from a crisis of identity. Torn between sleek, Hollywood‑style assassin action and classic 80s Bollywood revenge drama, it lands awkwardly in the middle: polished and watchable, but emotionally hollow and scriptwise outdated. References to La Femme Nikita, Atomic Blonde, Tomb Raider, and Black Widow abound, but the film lacks the visceral soul of those inspirations. Both Alia and Sharvari commit fully to their roles, shining in the action sequences. The centerpiece—a hand‑to‑hand fight inside a cramped kitchen—evokes Kill Bill with its kinetic choreography and stands out as a major highlight. Hrithik’s cameo as Kabir feels tactical rather than organic, serving as fan service that halts narrative momentum instead of elevating it. Alpha isn’t terrible enough to hate, nor compelling enough to fully invest in. Empowering female leads requires more than machine guns and designer athleisure—it demands narrative ammunition. Without it, the film remains a stylish but hollow entry in the franchise.

#Alpha stands as yet another exercise in "what-ifs" for the YRF Spy Universe.
It ignites with a promising, distinctive spark, only to pivot hastily back into safely familiar
