Backrooms is not a movie you can casually put on and expect to enjoy.
First, you need to understand what the Backrooms are and the concept behind them. Without that context, this might just feel like a weird and boring movie.
But if you know the lore and enjoy found footage horror, this is an absolute treat. The movie creates an incredibly eerie atmosphere with almost no jump scares, yet it still manages to scare the hell out of you. The horror comes from the feeling of being lost, isolated and trapped in a place that should not exist.
What I loved most is that the answers are actually there within the movie, but you need to pay attention. This is not a film you can watch while scrolling through reels on your phone. Every detail matters.
For us, this was a masterpiece and one of the most unique horror experiences of 2026. After Undertone, this is another reminder that horror can still feel fresh and original.
