"Balan: The Boy" is a beautifully written and well-made movie.
The overall direction and making were amazing, blending perfectly with the story.
The casting was one of the biggest highlights, as every single actor did a fantastic job. Adhisheshan, the child actor who played the boy character, was especially amazing and very convincing. He has incredibly expressive eyes. Farzana, who played the mother, was equally great. Her eyes were also very expressive, which made her and the boy look genuinely related. Zinan, who played the older version of the boy, delivered a great performance as well.
One of the best and most unexpected parts of the movie was Tovino's role. Even though his physical body Fat wasn't entirely convincing, he completely nailed with his performance. The actress who played Ammachi was wonderful, and Jean Paul Lal's acting deserves a lot of appreciation too. The rest of the supporting cast did a solid job.
On the technical side, the sound design was beautifully done. They used silence very effectively, and the background score and songs were excellent. The art department also did a fantastic job setting the scene.
While I noticed a few minor flaws in certain areas, they didn't ruin the film for me.
Overall, it was a great movie experience. Do watch it in Theatres for a really good experience.
