MAN OF CINEMA
One of the best Anti-war/Anti-violence told through heartbreaking and
rollercoaster tale of friendship, growing up and discovering life as whole. The film with its highly dramatic narrative shows how both war and greed affect the human psyche and the relationships between friends or loved ones around you. The action sequences in the film is not just meant to be ooh’d and ahh’d at, or for some masculine thrill, in fact It’s absolutely gut wrenching to see how brutal the war/violence in the real world is. The film evokes deep rooted feelings and trauma, and might make you feel personal. I love how John Woo rips the fun & stylistic moments just to make it commercial enough but then suddenly those heroic bloodshed hailstorms of bullets feel horrifying and disturbing that you will start hating the violence. It's a punishing film, the melodrama at times might be unlikeable, but the movie as whole is just fantastic.
