Anand, a 30-something city dweller compelled to spend a 10-day mourning period for his father in the rugged countryside of western India, tenderly bonds with a local farmer struggling to stay unmarried.

It’s a lovely endearing film bout how Anand who’s mourning the loss of his
father and now has to travel to his native village but he wants to come back soon to Mumbai before all the rituals are done cos he doesn’t want to spend too much time with his paternal family as they would confront him to get married soon. Only his parents know that he’s queer and being a part of the Indian society he’s scared of facing these ppl. It deals with themes of loss , mourning , societal pressure with marriage and the never ending rituals and longing for love . In such a setting he gets a chance to spend more time with his childhood friend and companion Balya and how an endearing relationship that’s shown with so much purity and realism. I don’t think I’ve so seen any queer stories based out of our villages and here they’re not out to make any statement but quietly mention a note that there are people everywhere who struggle for their existence on a day to day basis. There were several moments that welled me up . It’s fantastic that our regional cinema continue to churn out such gems .

What a calming film to communicate emotions that are simple yet deeply
complicated. Loved how the camera often stays at a distance just observing. No interference. No rush. It

Despite being a niche with its narrative, #SabarBonda is a quiet little drama
on longing and identity packaged in a poetic tale of queer love that makes for a brilliant watch. It
