Sugil SG
A decent addition to the Weekend Cinematic Universe.
Detective Ujjwalan is the second installment of the universe after 'Minnal Murali'. It's a good movie to watch in the theatre. Ofcourse not a perfect one, but it has its own moments to thrill and laugh. Seems like, after a very long time, Dhyan Sreenivasan got a theatrical hit. Technically; editing, music, etc; 'Detective Ujjwalan' shines. Superb songs and background score. Good writing and direction. Dhyan Sreenivasan and Siju Wilson did their roles neatly. Both of them hold most of the screen space. Kottayam Naseer and other casts also did their roles well. The first half is full of exploring the village and the characters. The second half is when the real game begins. But in that area, they should have been written much better. It felt flat in some areas. Even the climax is okayish but the suspense and the twist are not much goosebumps scenes. Those scenes should've been done better. If you're looking for any surprise cameos and notable references to 'Minnal Murali', you may be disappointed. The Weekend Cinematic Universe introduced a new village and people. Seems like all set for a future more projects with them. Don't miss the post-credit scene. A new world is unlocked there. Overall, 'Detective Ujjwalan' is a decent movie experience and a good entry to the Weekend Cinematic Universe and a new team member for the Minnal Murali.
