I am going to say this upfront: walk in, switch your phone off, and do not let
anyone spoil a single frame of this film for you. Dhurandhar: The Revenge is that kind of experience. 4.5 because of the only two issues otherwise the way it ended it was easy 5/5 We have seen Ranveer Singh as Hamza, cold and calculated. But the very first shot of him as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, there is this quiet innocence in his eyes that hits you differently. He plays this character like a wounded tiger throughout, and somehow, in the same film, he will also make you tear up. Give this man any role and he just disappears into it completely. That is not acting, that is something else entirely. The first 10 to 15 minutes are an absolute wild ride. Before the film released, many of us were making theories that Jaskirat might be connected to Khalistani activities. Aditya Dhar completely throws that out of the window and takes the story in a direction nobody saw coming. There is a particular figure who appears on screen and the whole theatre in UP collectively leaned forward because this person reminded everyone of a big name from the UP mafia world, someone who was all over the news not too long ago. Jaskirat as a character is entirely fictional with no actual Army records to back him, but Aditya Dhar has clearly drawn from real-world figures connected to gang networks and cross-border crime to give this story its teeth. That grounding is what makes it land so hard. And when Jaskirat Singh Rangi's proper introduction (as in the trailer) shot hit the screen, the hooting in my theatre was something else. The backstory that follows is emotional, it is intense, and it earns every single second of your attention. What Aditya Dhar has done with Lyari across both films is genuinely special. It is not just a backdrop, it is a living, breathing world. With Rehman gone, Arshad Pappu is now staking his claim as the king of Lyari, and that sets the stage for everything that follows. This is where Major Iqbal, played by Arjun Rampal, is properly introduced, and let me tell you, there was real scepticism before release about whether he could carry the same menace that Akshaye Khanna brought in Part 1. He absolutely does. He comes out as genuinely threatening and there are moments where he commands the screen in a way that shuts you up completely. Once you are inside Lyari, you cannot look away. Whether it is Part 1 or Part 2, the setup of this world is so good that the politics, the planning, and the chess moves between characters are what keep you glued, not just the action. Full credit to Sashwat Sachdeva. The music in this film is doing real work. Ranveer's Sher-e-Baloch moment is more energetic and than what Akshaye Khanna had in Part 1 - not that catchy though - and the modern rendition of Tamma Tamma is genuinely one of the best sequences in the film. With reportedly 10 songs in the album and only 4 to 5 released so far, the full album and original score cannot come soon enough. But that said the music no close to be banger as the first half. Part 1 used red as its signature colour throughout the text and visual language, which made complete sense because red meant Rehman, blood, danger, and the empire being torn down. Part 2 shifts to yellow sometimes - Yellow feels like gold, like a claimed throne, like the shift from revenge as raw anger to revenge as power. It is a quiet but meaningful visual upgrade from what I can make of it The pre-interval sequence is pure tension and I can guarantee you will not want to get up from your seat. The second half opens with some drug hallucination sequences that are completely unexpected and genuinely wild in the best way. Then comes the Yalina moment. You saw it in the trailer and you wondered if it could live up to the build. It does. Sara Arjun is fantastic in this scene and the emotion it carries is fully earned because the film has spent its entire runtime building to why this moment matters so much to Jaskirat. It hits. And the ending? I will just say this: you will not see it coming. Not even slightly. My theatre walked out clapping and hooting. What Could Have Been Better - The first half is where the length catches up with you. When the film slows down to set up its characters and their motivations in detail, the pacing loses its grip for a stretch. The editing in those portions does not help either. That said, the film always pulls you back with a sudden shock just when you feel yourself drifting. The Bade Sahab build-up is the one real letdown. There was enormous speculation about who this would be and the eventual reveal does not match the weight of the build-up. Whether your expectation was too high or the execution fell short, it is the one moment that does not fully deliver. To conclude :- Aditya Dhar has done it again. Hindi cinema is now before Dhurandhar and after Dhurandhar. Go watch it.
