Those trains carrying dead bodies, those savagely torn and raped women, its all been happening since before. What does it mean when we say those times were good? The naked dance of hatred and thirst of blood was there then and it is there even today. Only the faces have changed. This film shows how love gets rotten to the core and humanity fades away when everyone's heart and mind are filled with hatred. A brilliant portrayal of innocence turning into monsters. Stories of friends becoming each other's enemies and the struggle of holding on to your identity. It is one of those few films which stays grounded and believes in honest storytelling without choosing sides and instead chooses the humanity over religion. We see the narrative from the neutral perspective, from the eyes of a little parsi girl who witnesses how friendship and love turned easily into ashes. Its another great aspect which shows how the Parsi Community who were the refugees, They were more safe during the partition compared to people who were born here. All because your identity is attached to the religion you are born in. This side of the partition is something which we are very familiar with, But it's the story which shows that love and hatred grows in the same pond, it's on us what we choose.
