Here I love the way food is used as part of the story-telling. it kind of provides sensory which is elevated with emotions of the characters even though you are not there physically. Ang Lee uses the preparation of traditional Chinese cuisine as the opening to unfold the story, which explores the theme of a Taiwanese family and daily life through the tale of a single father and his relationship dynamics with his three daughters, with all their joys and sorrows, and how changing times can bring changes in each of their lives, drifting apart, making new relationships, and life decisions but one thing that remains same and binds them all together is delicious home cook meal. It's a movie that will crave you to share a hearty meal with your close ones and talk to each other.
