Jamie and Makoto slowly move closer together, both literally and figuratively. The film uses five spoken languages English, Filipino, Hiligaynon, Nihongo, and a made-up one but it also speaks the language of silence, food , films and human gestures. They say people’s heartbeats synchronise when they’re captivated by the same story and maybe that’s why love is a language. Heart asking a question and finding an answer in another, a conversation held in silence, in glances, in touches, in time. Two hearts become fluent in each other. The film perfectly blends the melancholic feeling of loneliness and the pure joy of finding someone who’ll listen and understand you without any effort. It's like a modern Cocktail version of "in the mood for love" meets "Chunking Express"
