MAN OF CINEMA
Two lost souls in one strange country, finding comfort in each other creates a
wholesome and heartwarming experience.
This film delicately and in matured fashion tackles the subject of loneliness, companionship and relationships while still providing laughs and emotional bits. It's a film that I regretfully waited too long to watch it finally, but now I will cherish it for a long time.
I loved why they picked Japan as setting to explore these characters, its a country where not only langauge, food and culture are strange to you and can make you feel isolated from the rest of them, but its also a country where people are very lonely, shy and prefer to live in their individual spaces, where mostly people have issues it comes to human connection and relationship. It also shows how even in a densely populated city like tokyo, one can feel really lonely.
From the brilliant performances to the soul-soothing music score to glimpses into Japanese visual culture, it shows that Sofia paid careful attention to each detail , which makes the film stand out.
Can we have Before sunset kind of thing, where Scarlett and bill murray re unite in another strange place/country after all these years just to rekindle that connection they created in tokyo. I would love to see that one day!
