MAN OF CINEMA
“I don’t smoke cigarettes, but I ask everyone who comes, ‘Do you have a
matchstick?’ There’s so much I want to set ablaze, but I lack the courage.”
- GULZAR

Maachis will be remembered as a poignant study of Punjab’s post-partition complexities, particularly the insurgency’s roots and repercussions of radicalism. A film which generates empathy and gives a space to reflect on everything instead of spreading hatred like many movies do now.
