Based on the autobiography , Bird of a different feather tells a story of
coming to terms of a 12-year-old girl Sonia with albinism disease.
Because of this issue she often gets bullied by her classmates, racially discriminated against and mocked often because of her skin color and how she looks. On top of this her family is poverty ridden and her father is a severe alcoholic and irresponsible.
So its like her life is constantly surrounded by sick society, people who don't understand her, careless parents and lack of love pushes her to the edge of disparity and loneliness.
But the director brings the humour in her life as a ray of light, her ability to make people laugh around her, turning own sad moments into comic bits, enables her to see the world and her sadness in life from different perspective.
She not only comes to terms of state of her life, but also finds a way to make friends and create happiness thats not dependent on others to provide.
Its a small beautiful film which shows life can cruel for you, but its on you how you take its and mould it and make it yours. Also tells the importance of empathy, self love and equality.
