Mortal Kombat (2026) is an action, fantasy, and comedy film.
It tells the story of a competition between warriors from different realms, where participating in this competition is the only way to save your realm from destruction. We see concepts of the chosen one, vengeance, and rivalry. The film portrays the story of good versus evil and defines what a hero is, which is the main theme of the film. The film is VFX-loaded, and some parts feel artificial; when shots from real locations appear, the VFX shots seem dull in comparison. The film follows a linear storyline. It would have been better if Karl Urban, who plays the character of Johnny Cage in this film, was shown struggling with his powers. The makers cast a famous face for this character, but the way he was presented was confusing to me because until the end, I didn't understand if he fights solely based on his skills or if he has some superpower or will acquire one later, like other warriors. These things confused me. So, Mortal Kombat is a decent film. Watching this film was just a timepass for me.
