MAN OF CINEMA
MAN OF CINEMA
A woman's jealousy, resentment, Urge and anger can make her more scarier than a
demon. Onibaba works both as a horror classic film and a periodic erotic drama. With its more nuanced and universal social critique on women and their vulnerable emotions which we hardly see in the patriarchal world. But the era this was set in was completely different..when japan was in turmoil because of feud war, all women were away from their men who were either busy in war or killed in war. Now these women are all alone in this never ending war and have to live by committing crimes, and they were also lacking a sexual and emotional satisfaction which leads to this story. An old woman and her daughter in law, when an old woman's jealousy, resentment and anger grew because of a young woman's beauty, and her sexual affair with another man. This pushed an old woman to take steps to stop her daughter in law, which curses her for life. The film brilliantly combines natural , supernatural and folklore elements in the film with stunning photography in monochrome, which sets up a great mood for horror. lush darkness and luminous tall grass absorbs everyone in it, including us. One of the absolute best of atmospheric horror movies you will ever see. A perfect combination of art, allegory and visuals. It's a brilliant symbolic movie which tells our vulnerable emotions are the real demons which can destroy us easily if you don't know how to control them.
