Patriot

That's the only reason to book 'Patriot' FDFS. But the film couldn't fulfill the expectations completely. I can say 'Patriot' is not a bad film. But could've been better. Well written and perfectly executed first half, followed by an average second half made the whole movie just a watchable flick. Highly relevant subject that we can connect with today's 'Pegasus' software used by the Indian union government to monitor politicians, activists, journalists and even a common man. It has the potential of making it as a highly political film, like how politicians and systems join hands with corporates to monitor citizens. But Mahesh Narayanan used it as a template corporate vs citizen issue. That's one of the major issues I felt. A slow burn but thrilling and engaging first half. Character introduction, their journey all are really well written. And also gave a hype about the second half. But the second half was not what I expected or what the film deserved. The film has gone more and more like a slower narration. Apart from the action sequences nothing impressive in the second half. So sad to see how the most anticipated cameo underutilized. Not properly used the L factor. Could have more scenes and high moments with the duo. The chase scene is good. Felt flat in the second half. I know it's not like the usual mass action commercial film, it's more of a drama thriller. But the film is not engaging. But still the film stands out as one of the technically brilliant films. No compromise on technical aspects and making quality. Excellent job. Can be marked one of Mollywood's best in that area. It's completely a Mammootty film. A Mammootty show. The actor and star never disappoints. The L factor; Mohanlal's extended cameo was the saviour in the second half, but like I said before, underutilized. Less emotional connection. Kunchacko Boban and Fahadh Faasil are the other two brilliant actors who took the film on their shoulders too. Rajeev Menon is the other big name who gave a outstanding performance. The film goes through all the female characters, but the impact is less. Darshana Rajendran, Zarin Shihab did their job really well. Revathi was also good. Nayanthara has nothing to do in this film. No need to cast an actor like Nayanthara to do such a small character. But she did a great job. Sushin Shyam's music is one of the key aspects of the film. He just elevated the maximum he can in every scene. Great job. You may feel like, why there's lots of negative. But that's the truth I felt, my feelings, a cinephile who expected more. 'Patriot' is definitely not a bad film or an average film. But it could've been better. Had the potential. Underutilized. Overall a good watch. Deserve a theatrical watch.
