wouldn't even escape Earth's gravity. Look, I get it; everyone has a rock-hard boner for Gosling. You replace him with any lesser-known lead let's say Miles Teller, Dylan O'Brien, or Idris Elba who are all Brilliant Actors BTW and nobody will watch this. It's because we are all gay for him: every little tear that falls from his blue eyes, every little goofy dance move he does, all his quips, all his nerdy, nervous energy quirks become acceptable. As for the anthropomorphic alien life form, who is also Gay for Golsing (Fist my Bump) the movie just keeps telling me how to feel. It keeps nudging me; the music crescendos to a punchline, a cutsy mannerism, the baby talk. I'm told when to giggle, when to clap, and cry, and when to stomp my foot in helplessness, and I'll admit it worked occasionally when I wasn't keeping my guard up. Every Problem in the film is solved with a joke, a calculation and a fucking First Bump. In that order! But the 4K Mac wallpaper-esque visuals (this guy shot Dune: Part Two FFS), I honestly feel people just forgot to think for themselves. This is by no means a must-watch on an IMAX screen; Gravity, Interstellar, Ad Astra, Sam Rockwell's Phenomenal : Moon, and even Ryan Gosling's severely underrated First Man, all were. The stakes felt very manufactured to cater to the jokes and constant, brain-dead, candy-floss comedy. Project Hail Mary relies Entirely on Gosling's Golden Retriever Energy. The Banter between him and a space Rock becomes a bit repetitive and weary. Andy Weir's competence Porn even in something like The Martian.. was grating. An Example of a similar movie.. with similar themes Dystopian Sci-Fi.. Wall-E which I adore, the simplicity and the innocence of it, and aside from having a likable personality, that movie had a heart, a real plot, a premise, and a few more likable characters, which are bound to get an Emotional Response from you. And Wall-E is primarily a silent animated Pixar movie, But as for Project Hail Mary.. well it feels like a manufactured Marvel Buddy Cop Space Movie. To me Narrative Depth will always win over Polished Visuals. I will forget about this in a week. In Rocky's words: 👎🏽👎🏽
