MAN OF CINEMA
They say when you hit the rock bottom, the only way is up.
But they don't say what happens before you rebuild and grow, that phase that lies between both, which can either break you or make you. Rebuilding takes us straight into the gorgeous, wild, and brutally devastated state of burnt land because of wildfires everywhere, and the people who lost everything but hope, a hope to begin again, breathe again and love again. The film puts you in a very somber and sad mood straightaway as you get familiar with the life of Dusty who has land and is homeless like many others around him. Now he is slowly losing his sense of belonging and drifting away from people, from the community, from his daughter. But Dusty has to figure out how to live, where to live and where to start from. He needs to confront himself, rebuild his connection with the world around him, and most importantly, reconnect with his daughter. This constant dilemma of emotional and life complexities makes a starting point to the film and creates somber and meditative drama with beautiful images barren land you will ever see. There is death everywhere but there living beings clinging on the tail of hope and facing life one day at a time. The film packs incredible delicacy and tenderness both in the story and characters. This film is a reminder that it’s never too late to start over and do better and help each other. Rebuild doesn't mean rebuilding what is already lost. It means growing with it by accepting it. It means being willing to be vulnerable. It means trying even when you know it's not worth the effort , it means to be better than you were yesterday. It also gently reminds us to respect nature and never underestimate its power. because we are guests here, never the hosts. Amd finally this film is beautiful portrait of human empathy. It shows how to accept help when you need it, and offering help simply works because that’s how good human relationships grow.
