MAN OF CINEMA
“There is no past or future.
It is just a projection of the present.”
A hypnotic and dreamy voyage slipping into lost time with minimalistic cinematography and soulful sound design and shot in 16mm, this movie was a something of surprise for me.
Ita elusive creative piece that explores realistic human reactions to an extraordinary event, which is time travel. The three men exhibit different ways of engaging with it, but what makes it interesting is how the character projects their weary life in this.
This movie innates displacement of time and people regardless of whether you are living in your time or another’s. It shows the loss of the thriving community, the vibrant loving nature of human and what it means to going back to your roots. It uses time travel as a metaphor to show what we lost and what we are trying to save and what we forgot amidst the chaos.
It uses the abandoned ship trope and relevant characters, and transforms it into an exploration of how life itself can be the haunting and how to navigate the past in the present.
