The Cine Column
Secret of Kalinga attempts to fuse ancient royal folklore, blood‑moon
prophecies, and campus comedy‑horror into a single narrative. What arrives on screen, however, is a chaotic and uninspired patchwork of worn‑out horror clichés, cringe‑inducing slapstick, and atrocious visual effects.
Amidst this cinematic wreckage, one creative outlier stands out—the mythology segment rendered using AI. This brief sequence, which recounts the origins of the Kalinga curse and the tragic fate of the princess, is visually distinct and genuinely promising. They could have been made a full AI film with this concept, instead of current cheap version.
On the whole, Secret of Kalinga is a tedious, cheaply made supernatural misfire. It fails to scare, fails to amuse, and squanders its only spark of originality in favor of noisy, derivative storytelling.
