Sentimental value is a moving family drama where the central characters carry a
lot of trauma and emotional baggage and how they deal with it on a daily basis and how the house plays a role in all of this through generations . I wish a lot of it could have been dealt with a heartfelt conversation but thats why relationships are so complicated and how communication is of paramount importance. I kept thinking bout renate reinsve’s character nora. You could feel her trauma just from her face and seemed happy only with her sister’s kid. Liked how they finished the film cos i would have been gutted for her otherwise . Stellan skarsgaard could pick up his oscar cos it’s a tricky character as it’s not clear how exactly he’s dealing with his personal trauma. A difficult film to watch cos they have kept it close to reality .
