MAN OF CINEMA
"People don't change because of fear, but because they feel loved."
A beautiful indonesian film which explores the themes of grief, coming to terms, longing for love and the elements of human nature in a very subtle, heartful way.
It has a very humanistic and vulnerable romance with a touch of fantasy, woven so gently and sweetly that it stings your heart. This will be even more emotional for people who are still dealing with grief or letting go of someone from their life.
The complexity of making peace with the past that can leave deep wounds, and this was shown so perfectly and the arrogance of humans who think they can control time is another aspect which was brilliantly highlighted in the film
[Spoiler] - in the end i felt she was trapped in the loop because she couldn’t let go of his death, she never overcame that feeling. The loop ended as soon as she accepted she couldn’t change time or him. Even in that one loop where she tried to live another life away from him, fate still pulled her towards him. It shows the only way to move on in life is to let go of the past and always cherish the memories more than regrets.

The romance genre isn't my go to, but a time-loop love story? Sign me up,
because I want to know how it's been written. This is Indonesia's submission for the Oscars. Sheila Aisha
