Black Phone 2 is a teenage mystery-horror thriller and a strong example of how
a sequel should be made. The story takes place a few years after the events of The Black Phone, where the kids from the first film have now grown up. This time The Grabber returns, seeking revenge on Finn. Although he no longer exists in the real world, he operates from a dream-like spiritual realm, contacting the real world through Gwen’s dreams and the old landline phone. The transitions between the dream world and the real world are handled smoothly, making the mystery and tension easy to follow. The film builds a strong sense of suspense while also highlighting the brother-sister bond, friendship, and the fear the characters experience. Despite having some gruesome and violent moments, the film stays grounded and creates chills and thrills without relying heavily on loud background music or cheap jump scares. Overall, The Black Phone 2 is a satisfying sequel. You can jump straight into Part 2, but watching the first film will help you understand the characters better.

Instead of building on the strengths of the first film, this one feels like an unnecessary Part 2. The movie struggles to set up
