Joaquin Phoenix & Hoffman were terrific in this movie. PTA's ability to cast the perfect actors should be honestly studied in Cinema history. The film had great duality between Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Hoffman. It was a phenomenal performance in every sense of the word, and the reason for this dedication to embodying the characters is Paul Anderson's ability to bring out the acting capabilities that the actor possesses. The film has very complex matters at hand, sometimes they are difficult to adjust to, even the pacing is deliberately made more slagging as the film goes on.Despite this, what gave the film its weight and value beyond the story is its characters and the intriguing relationships, followed by truly wonderful and intriguing conversations. The Master speaks perfectly about human fragility and emotional vulnerability which makes us enslave ourselves to someone or something because of that need we all have to belong, to find meaning, to not feel alone, and escape from past horrors. And it leaves a lesson worth remembering, no one can save you,if you don't decide to do it yourself.
