Caught the first season few years back and this series came at a time when
Daniel Craig wanted to walk away from the Bond roles and there was a lot of talk of Tom hiddlestone taking the mantle . Having seen him only as Loki before this was a pleasant surprise . Him playing the globetrotting hero in an espionage thriller trying to infiltrate an arms dealer team headed by Hugh Lawrie. Had some great moments and supported by Olivia Colman, it was a great watch . There was also a fleeting appearance of John Le carre, the famous novelist known for espionage thrillers.
And then after nearly 9 yrs , out of nowhere we get season 2 and still holds up to be a fantastic watch . Majorly based out of Columbia this time , out hero still feels Richard roper is around the corner even though he’s believed to he dead and this time he’s trying to infiltrate a Colombian businessman who has a charity organisation but is also having a child rebel army preparing for a coup to bring down the govt . The antagonist this time is Teddy dos santos who comes across as a suave businessman but also extremely emotional and this provides pine to infiltrate his inner circle but he constantly believes there is more to actually what’s seen . It ends with a thumping cliff hanger of a finale and provides a lot of meat for season 3. I just hope the writer David Farr doesn’t take 10 years to make season 3 which is touted as the final season .
