A very beautifully shot survival drama about a frontiersman, who was abandoned by his hunting crew after being mauled by a grizzly bear. This isn't just a plot but a canvas on which this whole story was painted. Leonardo DiCaprio was great in the film. He truly portrayed what it means to be in the wild. This felt like an episode of man vs wild. He deserved the oscars. Tom Hardy as an antagonist was chef's kiss. The Revenant was shot solely with natural light giving it more grounded and ethereal look. It feels raw, vulnerable and susceptible. Those extreme close ups of the faces just elevated all the feels of the film. A. González iñárritu's filmography often delves into the complexities of human nature, death & life and the search of meaning. This film also redefined modern psychological drama. All the foley shots of trees, sky, mountains provide the viewers the notion of isolation and distance from the civilization. Ps–That whole scene of grizzly attacking glass was some of the most intense scene I've ever watched. It felt as if the attack was on me and I needed to survival all that. The Revenant has to be a film that is a must watch for everyone.
