This is Lynch's
most simplistic , quiet, sincere and humane film he ever made. No surrealism, No dark elements, no grey characters. Just a heartful road trip journey to make amends with estranged relationships. It captures the themes of family and perseverance and reconciliation.
In the film as he moves on the lawnmower slowly, the tracks its wheels leave on the ground are like a reminder of the bond the two brothers have lost, it's a film that carries the deepest traces of brotherhood and relationships we lost and how far you can go to amend them.
It strips down all the noise and chaos and presents you just pure, unadulterated empathy. Lynch proves he can do tenderness just as well as nightmares. It is filled with beautiful visuals, calming background scores, memorable side characters and an emotional climax.

I'm not old enough to relate to the emotions of that elderly man.
To me, it seemed like a road movie with too much goodness but lacking engagement.
