The WONDERfools follows Eun Chae-ni, a clumsy young woman who learns she has
only a short time to live because of a heart condition. So she decides to travel the world as a last wish. But money is the problem. So she comes up with a fake kidnapping plan after her grandmother refuses to give her the money. However, the plan takes an unexpected turn, leading her and two others to gain mysterious superhero powers. Teaming up with another man in the town who has a power and also knows about these powers. They begins uncovering the secrets surrounding their town, missing people, and the arrival of mysterious outsiders and leads to facing dangerous enemies.
The series shines through its comedy, with much of the humor coming from three ordinary people who suddenly gain powers but have no idea how to use them. Their fear, confusion, and constant mistakes make for many genuinely funny moments. At the same time, the show delivers emotional scenes that feel natural without affecting the mood of the story. Balancing comedy, mystery, action, and emotion effectively is the key factor of the series.
