Mani Ratnam.
Oh my favourite Mani Ratnam. Oh the great Mani Ratnam. I have no words dude. You have given a very bad output objectively that I can't even back you even for a second.
I still can't believe this film bruh.
I won't talk about the acting performances cause then i would need to criticize even the great Kamal Haasan which, emotionally, i am not able to. STR is the epitome of choking. Man has two masterpieces like Maanaadu and Vendhu Thaninthathu Kaadu back to back very easily and messed up his career by choosing weak characters. Bro really needs to choose wisely from now. Trisha - i have never been so disappointed by Trisha ever in my life. I mean I really thought after the trailer, mani was gonna pull off Aaranya Kaadam ending ( sorry for even pulling up that masterpiece in this film's discourse ). Take Trisha's character out of the film and still the film is the same except for the lust sequences. I believed Trisha would never make the mistake of playing such unworthy characters. Hmm.
Coming to the music, Ar.Rahman, this man gave his everything but to the worst film ever. Each and every score and each and every song was an absolute banger. But the thing is the situation running inside the film didn't match at all with the goosebumps-inducing score and music. Was it Arr's fault ?. No it was Mani's fault. He shouldn't even have asked for such score and songs when you know you are gonna make a film where you have no space or situation to use such type.
The cinematography was absolutely fantastic. Huge respect to Ravi K. Chandran. Each and every shot was splendid. But again everything was for ruins.
Sorry to say but the editing was pure shite. Especially in action sequences, it was very bad. Anju Vanna Poove song was a banger at the starting 10 mins. It was amazing.
The only good portions were the first 10 mins and Aishwarya Lekshmi portions. Her acting was so good that I literally felt painful seeing Amar die in front of her after all that underwhelming shit I went through before that. Aishu scenes were literally awesome. That's when it hit me. Even after having the situation and the time and the potential of making a film that would make us cry like a baby if it was focused on Ashok Selvan's character arc and Amar and Aishu relationship, Mani chose to write this film's screenplay. Ashok Selvan's character should have had importance like Vijay Sethupathi in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and the whole story should have went in a different path without even Trisha in the project.
Vinveli Nayaga and Mutha Mazhai - the potential these 2 songs held were ruined totally. Why the hell did they even play Vinveli Nayaga at the end ? Clearly Rangaraya Sakthivel wasn't a hero at all.
Mani Bro trying to normalize cheating is the worst part ever.
The makeup was shit man. The looks of Kamal should have been a little better atleast. His hairstyle and makeup was funny. The Yakuza look was shit and the look before that was bad. The starting full shave look was awesome.
One of the worst films ever. I never really thought Tamil Cinema would miss this year and make it their comeback for the poor execution of last year. But last year feels like a great year compared to 2025. Coolie is the last hope. Fingers crossed. Hope Superstar and my 🐐 Loki pulls of a banger.
I literally watched it knowing its going to be shit and it met my expectations.
Tired than disappointed at this stage.
2.5/10 - IMDB.
Remember : Never force yourself to like a film just because it's the goats of the film industry. Be it even the great Sir Christopher Nolan, if you feel a film is very bad, just convey your thoughts from your heart honestly.
Keeping all my cinephile nerves aside, atleast we should have had something to enjoy if STR and KH fight against each other man. That moment should have been goosebumps-inducing. But it was underwhelming af.
This is for the people posting in insta of how people gonna percieve this film as a cult after few years - Iam telling you. It's never gonna happen. Just STFU already. If it happens, we cinephiles ( including future generations ) are fucked up in our brains.
Ahhhh shit only if the film focused on Aishu more ahh. Damnn. Its frustrating man.
I couldn't see those insta barking dimbasses who blames Vijay fans for all of the bad films' bad reviews. Those mfs would be in hiding now I think.
Bro you should sleep after that injection bruh 😭😭 😂😂😂.
