"A picture with a smile—and perhaps, a tear",
Sweetest and the bitterest
tragic comedy film ever made in silent cinema. Chaplin in his first directorial debut gives his best drama along with heartfelt humour. Even the kid Jackie Coogan is the best child actor you will ever see from that era, such an innocence and mischief almost resembles chaplin.
The whole film consists of Six reels that seem like one big warm hug. All six reels pack humour, emotions and drama which is so moving without uttering a single dialogue. Provides a perfect blend of tragic comedy.
