MAN OF CINEMA
"Wherever she looked she only found misery, cruelty and monsters disguised as
humans"
Mouchette is a neo realism film which explores the life of 14 year old girl as she grows up surrounded by poverty, bullying and exploitation and Slut-shaming.
Bresson perfectly showcases her misery in her daily mundane and cruel life. The film really highlights Bresson's tremendous skill of constructing scenes with almost no dialogues and music and relies on ambient sounds and authentic setups.
The film is so authentic and realistic that you can feel the lack of sentimentality for characters , sadistic nature and suffering in a really raw form.
It's a grim and bleak story of a little fly who was shot down by people around her whom she trusted.
