I don't remember which was the last japanese comedy movie i watched, most of the stuff i watched is deeply moving, meaningful, thought provoking, thriller and serious stuff. But this movie is a feel good comedy but still packs all of those above things i mentioned. Its japanese cinematic culinary masterclass. This film makes you understand how japanese people take their food very seriously. Food is their way of life, food is love , lust, struggle, happiness, mood, and even life & death. We see all these themes explored in this movie through the food. And the film ends with a woman breastfeeding the child, the very first food every human has when they are born. What a wonderful way to end the film. Juzo Itami creates something magical with just food and honestly written simple characters which represent all classes of Japan. I was obsessed with Japanese food before ,after watching this movie i feel like i want to open the Tampopo Ramen shop. The whole film is such a vibe, fun and feels fresh out of Itami's heart. Oishii Desu!
