In the Mood for Love
2000 Chinese Movie
Drama Romance
My second movie by director Wong Kar-Wai after Chungking Express, released alsoin that order. I had stumbled upon CE and absolutely loved the world depicted through his lens, and in this movie as well, also set in HK, the frames, the lanes, the lights, the montages, the scenes, they just kept taking my breath away. So so so gorgeous. ✨ Contradiction is that this gorgeous movie is about the love story that never came to be. Hauntingly beautiful tale of two lovers who crossed each others path at such unusual circumstances that their morals could never let them act upon their feelings. They couldn’t be on the same page with their bravery and in the end kept missing each other, both literally and figuratively. The pang of emotions it left me feeling were as melancholic as this movie’s setting. Amongst my absolute favourite movies now.
