Fireworks

Kitano wrote, edited, and starred as the main character of Nishi, I am amazedby the sheer brilliance of this man. Internally disturbed violent police officer, who hardly emote any emotions on his face but he's an unstable man who can't deal with his peace being ruined by people. It's the story of an anti hero who is protecting his wife in what could be her final moments and to the extent he can go to spend some peaceful time with her. Kitano brilliantly handles violence as a dead emotion in this, it's neither full of rage or full of emotions, it's fate that just happens at any moment. People can easily get distracted because this isn't the usual narrative with twists or drama, its plain simple story of man who is dealing with his inner violence and the quest for peace. Its a very minimalistic approach to showcase emotional and brutal stories without stuffing those emotions on your face.
