Extraordinary film. The cinematography was so impeccable and stunning. The wide shots were so beautiful to watch . The sound design was so freaking good . The songs and bgm by the legend ar Rahman was just brilliant and was pure bliss for my ears . My favourite was chola chola ofc. His music was so perfect according to the scene and situations and it elevated most of the scenes in the film . The acting of karthi , jayam Ravi, Vikram, lal,prakash raj,trisha , sobhita , Aishwarya was done with such finesse that we see the characters not the actors. Mani ratnam is the main mastermind behind this Magnum Opus . I loved his subtle and niche way of making the war sequences . Of course some 2 or 3 shots had flaws but that was not much of a problem . This film is an historic fictional masterpiece which concentrates mainly on the plot which is political stuff and fights instead of more fighting sequences. The main plus of this film is that too. The character study by mani ratnam is so perfect and the time he takes for it is so good. A visually striking film definitely . My favourite scene in this film is the interval block . I was filled with goosebumps at that scene. The climax boat sequence was mind-blowing and spectacular . My favourite character in this movie is vikram's aditha karikalan . He enacted that role so well. Wanted more scenes of him. Loved how they portrayed him. Overall a splendid film with breathtaking visuals and superlative music .
