The Penguin

HBO knows how to pull out a character from the movie and build a perfect cinematic world keeping that character in focus. The Penguin series is a great example for that. Colin Farrel adapted this character so perfectly that you wouldn't recognise the actor beneath that character. Its great portrayal of a person who is selfish, greedy, needy and mama's boy. He has different levels of emotions, all these layers were perfectly carried out by Colin Farrell. I really liked how the show kept character essence and its true nature same right from start to end. Penguin never trusted anyone and never was loyal to anyone, and even at the end of the series that's what he shows, he never wants to be weak by clinging on to any relationship or trust or brotherhood. He has always been survivors among predators. Not just penguin, the series is top notch because of another brilliant character they created with brilliant actress Sofia Carmine, played by Cristin. What a fucking crazy bitch, she was a surpris we never expected to see in this show. Her character not just went toe to toe with the penguin but in several episodes she was the protagonist and that's the good thing about this show. It invests in the character arcs, builds the world around them and gives an honest storyline to tell. Lauren LeFranc created a perfect gotham tale which we haven't seen which exists in the batman world. A gripping story of crooks who will go to any extent to grab the power on this rotting city. Its brilliant storytelling at its best.
