Set in 1960s, The Archies takes place in a fictional town called Riverdale,
which mainly harbours people of the Anglo-Indian community. The idea of selecting an Anglo-Indian background in order to retain the original names of the characters from the comics was a smart one.
To be fair, I had mixed feelings about the trailer, but still decided to give it a try because I have loved Zoya's past work.
The only good thing was the vibrant set design and costumes. It was colorful- a visual treat. The scene where Archie says he's apolitical & then his friends explain him through a song that everything around him is politics was a delight to watch. But that's about it. Overall, it was rather bland and lukewarm.
In terms of acting performances by the young cast, Vedang Raina stood out for me. He has a great screen presence. Mihir Ahuja and Dot also made an impression, but I felt that they were underutilized. Khushi's dialogue delivery was very poor.
All in all, watch it only if you want pure escapism.

years, I found the casting uncrafted. Suhana and Khushi were absolutely poor at conversing in Hindi

A good movie indeed.
A teenage drama with a big job in hand and plenty of messaging. Actors are all great and every scene in the movie is close to a painting.
