cultures of masculinity with such relentless honestly.
Jaggi isn't an easy film to witness, not just because of the trials of the protagonist, but also because it constantly underscores the stark reality of it all. You start to see how Jaggi is at once the harrowing story of an individual victimised by the society, and an allegory for how strict codes of masculinity become unbearably punishing.
In Jaggi, you see who the protagonist is and what he is perceived as by the larger society. And you see the harrowing experience of the world in the distance between those two versions. Jaggi confronts you with such unforgiving truths of life in a patriarchal society, that you find yourself gasping for breath.
