MAN OF CINEMA
What would you dream about in this Chaotic and Capitalistic crazy world? To
disappear from it to a happy place?
Guess what, you are already invisible to people, just like millions of people like immigrants, poor, homeless in this world, they all are invisible to people who walk over you like you are an ant. No matter how hard you work, what dream you chase, where you are from. Everyone gets woken up to the reality by the sound of Money.
La cocina is about such immigrants from different countries who came to new york to live an american dream, but all they get is false hopes, disrespect and disappointment.
The film is so fucking crazy, i am kidding. You thought that " The Bear " show was chaotic and alarming? Wait till you watch this, this is bear on steroids! So raw, exhilarating, tense and depressing. It shows how this american dream is just house made of glass and can be broken with a small stone. You are nothing but collateral damage between the dream and exploitation.
The whole film is in black & white, giving the aesthetic of the late 80s, i really liked the Cinematography, the way it captures the chaotic moments in the kitchen.
Film not only targets the false american dream, but also talks about industry exploitation, the shitty politics, and the ever increasing toxic commerce.
The performances are so good, especially Raúl Briones who plays the main character Pedro. He is fucking cynic, emotional and living on edge.
I would highly recommend this movie!
