MAN OF CINEMA
When everyday you wake up and all you get is abuse, mistreatment, despair and
disappointment then there is only one thing to look forward to, tomorrow. A hope of a better tomorrow where things can be better and filled with happiness and desires.
It's a well made neo realistic dark comedy drama which starts as the story of an individual suffering of Delia in post war patriarchal society in italy, where she gets abused, treated as slave and not appreciated and loved at all by her husband, she can't do anything about it other than endure all that pain and hope for better tomorrow, but the ending which surpasses our expectations and forputs a wider and important social remark on women rights and freedom.
I really loved how the debutant director has injected the comedy into such dark and depressing scenes, it actually makes you chuckle even though reality is filled with sadness. It kind of creates a magic realism. Even the fights and the background score are totally unique You don't see it often. Its entertaining, reflective, thoughtful and emotional. A kind of feminist movie which doesn't preach but makes you think about it and understand the need of it in this patriarchal society. It was cleverly made.
