Captain Miller is an emotional action film set in India in the pre-independenceperiod. It deserves an applause just for the guts in telling the truth - British were exploitative but not the worst, what was worst was the class divides and caste discrimination among our own people. This story opens with the information that the tribal people were not allowed to enter the very own temple they built 600 years ago, and what I think is worst is they were not allowed to wear slippers and that the British were better in these cases of equal treatment of the Indian soldiers. The movie wins in technicalities(literally everything), the messaging and the performances, especially Dhanush, sorry, literally everyone were good. What lacked was the emotional connect and engaging narrative in the late first half. I always wonder if these action films were delivered with slow yet intriguing storytelling rather than fast-paced structuring which is not so effective connect wise. I personally felt the pre-interval action was filled with good ideas but the too much shaking which was unnecessary literally made my eyes tired. But the later half of the film was a masterpiece according to me, with great combining of storylines and characters which made sense and rightly done. The Artwork was international. I really think this is the best score for an action movie in the last 2 years. GVP nailed it except a few pieces, which was rather so loud. The action became too repetitive due to some writing flaws and could have been done more effectively. Arun Matheswaran delivers a definite one-time watch which is cinematically inspiring and mind-blowing, but could have been more connecting and it definitely had the scope which could have been executed more awe-inspiring. Yet it is one of the best character-driven action dramas made in Indian Cinema. Captain Miller
