Synopsis
An essayist, he finds peace in his mountain life. His routine is pleasantly disturbed by occasional visits from Machiko, his editor and love interest, as he struggles to let go of his late wife's ashes.

Tsutomu is a writer who moved to a mountain cottage in Nagano Prefecture knownfor its beautiful mountain range where he writes essays about his life there. He makes simple meals every day, using vegetables and wild plants, following recipes that he learned from a Zen monk. As Nagano transitions beautifully through four seasons, the film asks questions about how to live a mindful life and what true wealth might be. Based on an essay by novelist Mizukami Tsutomu, the film also stars Sawada Kenji, one of Japan's biggest popstars and an accomplished actor.
