Viduthalai 2 didn’t work for me .
It was overstuffed , dialogue heavy containing generic characters and a Samudrakani kinda lesson on communism and revolution. Here the focus is on the Perumal/ vathiyar character played by Vijay sethupathi . It has some whistle-worthy dialogues and interesting ideas on paper but I found the most of first half especially the flashback portions as flat. You have the Ken , Manju and Kishore character who have a huge effect on how Vathiyar as a person and his politics evolve but due to the uneven editing and episodic nature of the scenes it doesn’t cause any desired effect unlike part 1. Even when some important characters die you don’t feel anything for them. But things get interesting when the film moves to the present day portions and how the officials , the police , media everyone is trying to have a bigger piece of the pie . Even the character played by Tamizh surprises you with his actions at the end but I don’t know if it was purely done for shock value . Vetri had truckloads of content and tried really hard but presents an overstuffed film without any coherence or emotion. The last 45 mins would probably save the film .

It's not like usual Vetri Maaran film.
Like all his films, here also Vetri took this film as a tool to speak his politics. But this time, he just focused more in politics than the

I had high hopes for this sequel, but it did not meet my expectations.
The problem with this film is that the flashback segments are always inconsistent, and while it maintains

Vetri's most political and violent film after 'Visaranai'.
Though the making felt a bit underwhelming, the writing and performances kept engaging. Vetri's winning streak continues!

Again a draggy timeline, and a lot of conversational dialogs and characters
made this movie unwatchable at some points. Not sure why the technical department fails again.
