While all other languages were delivering bangers on a regular basis Kollywoodwas on a big drought since JigarThanda double xx. Non of the movies left an impact on me, and there came this guy with his 50th venture who just dropped a tremendously well crafted thriller which i have seen in the recent times. Maharaja is like a broth, cooked for a long time just to feast it at once. The film starts with a shock and there after picks up at a slow pace with the back and forth none linear screenplay, you seemingly don't understand what's really happening and why it is happening until the dots are perfectly connected in the progress of the movie towards the final act. VJS as always pulls out a gut wrenching and hard-hitting performance which was so layered and gorey but very subtle and excellent. AK (Anurag Kashyap) was the surprising factor, really happy to see him in something good after immaikka nodigal. Singampuli and Natty were the outshining factor of the film after Vijay sethupathi. The karma factor really shows us that why it's a bitch as Anurag Kashyap is the bad guy, he's no anti hero or he's not a person with good morals but, his only intentions were to give his family a good life might just say as a mini version of walter white. I personally felt sad for him at some specific parts especially the climax, which left me baffled. This is one of the best crime thrillers i've seen since Por tozhil. So, if you ask me, please don't miss out on this
