Meiyazhagan is a beautifully written/ directed and acted film.
Love how Prem once again evokes the nostalgia in you slowly kindling with the emotions and doesn’t hit you with the emotional bricks but instead gently caresses you with flowers. It talks about a lot of themes.. like how a good deed you once did or just being your usual self might sometimes mean the world to someone else or change their life in its entirety. Like how it doesn’t serve any purpose to hold grudges against anyone forever. The director is very clear bout what its trying to evoke and is also so much in control cos he exactly know how much of the emotional knob he wants to turn. He could have easily made it as a tearjerker but he doesn’t want to do it and alienate its audience. It shows the goodness of people in abundance .. like the bus conductor, the flower seller or even the Karthi character and the Arvind saamy character could be any of us and it shows a mirror as to how are we viewing another person who’s just being genuinely nice to you without any motivations and how do we perceive them . I loved the climax , the scene where arul gives the jewels to his sister or when Rajkiran speaks to Jayprakash over the phone . They’re genuinely so moving . The second half of the film has been a talking point cos it delves into Karthi’s character and takes a different detour but it also gives a chance for arul to know more bout Karthi as a person and how the land and culture makes him the person he is and how he even loves the creatures and even non loving things around him . The house and the cycle are almost 2 characters in the film on how it leaves a deep impression on these individual’s lives. Also to mention Govind Vasantha’s score is so in sync with the theme of the film and contributes greatly to the overall look and feel of the film. We complain so much bout the quality of the films cos we are regularly dished out loud , crass , violent films so we need to embrace such quality , feel good , slice of life films and savour them. It’s one of the best films this year .

Good quality movie.
It was very fresh and emotional. But more interesting scenes would have made this movie as a cult.

In for a hyper-dramatisation of pasam and ekkam.
Strength would have been writing Meiyazhagan without leaning into the toady Kuchela trope.

Although I enjoyed it, the ending didn't quite satisfy me. It felt like an abrupt stop, leaving parts of the story untold. I

What a movie.
No unnecessary vulgarity, no item song, no meaningless action scenes just pure bromance between two people in their hometown.
