Vettaiyan

directed by T.J. Gnanavel starring the superstar Rajinikanth alongside the big b Amitabh Bachchan, Fahad Fasil and Rana Daggubati is a half baked crime drama that has it's moments but is mostly inconsistent throughout. This film easily could have been a great movie watching experience if T.J. Gnanavel actually focused on his strong side , the law and drama aspects which has organic mass elements in them just like Jai Bhim and with such a great cast it could have been great but what we got is a film with lots of forced commercial elements which were impactless and the pacing of the film was entirely off. However the film does has it's positives , especially the first half, which had a good set up and entertaining aspects with a whodunit type investigation going on but it all comes to an unsatisfactory second half. The performances of the cast especially Fahad , Rajini and Amitabh were great. For me personally, Fafa absolutely stole the show , he was the battery / life of this film. Ritika Singh and Dushara also did well. Same cannot be said with Rana Daggubati and Manju Warrior. Their characters were written poorly especially Rana's. Looking at the technical aspects, there are not much to say other than the cinematography was quite good , rest all was okayish and Anirudh background score is effective at the start but then it gets tiring. Overall , it's a film that could have been much more than what it is now but it's still watchable. Average.
