Not the usual Superstar mass action film.No backing by the super stardom. Even though it's not a true Gnanavel movie like Jai Bhim, 'Vettaiyan' also has a well written racy screenplay and it's a superbly executed film. Director T J Gnangavel tried his best to balance the stardom of superstar and the strong content that he says. Rajinikanth; the superstar and the super actor on fire. Subtle and excellent performance by him. Like I said in the beginning, it's not like a usual superstar template. IMO, after 'Kabali' and 'Kaala' a director tried to satisfy the star and actor Rajinikanth. Amitabh Bachchan's character should've been written better. He played his character nicely. Fahadh Faasil is another show stealer of the film. So energetic and fun throughout the film. After many serious films, Fahadh got a funny character and he is an extroverted techi-thief in this film. He casually did his job. Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh Abhirami, Rana Daggubati and Manju Warrier did their job well. Anirudh is subtle in the film. He gave exactly what the film wanted. His music didn't overshadowed the film at any point. A neat and clean work. Waiting for the unreleased tracks. Predictable is one of the flaws of the film. Second half could've been a little better. But overall a neat above average movie.
