Synopsis

In recent years, films about ego clashes get good reception from the audience.
The latest entry to the list is 'Lubber Pandhu'. But apart from others, 'Lubber Pandhu' shines in its way of blending cricket in it. Ego between 'Sixer Maamanaar' and 'Yorker Maapilai'. A superb combo. Attakaththi Dinesh and Harish Kalyan did a great performance. The aura created by Dinesh's 'Gethu aka Poomalai' character is equally as the aura for a big commercial star. Swasika and Sanjana also did a wonderful job. These 4 character's chemistry is something unique and good to watch. The film has some beautiful moments. The director Thamizharasan Panchamuthu not only takes the ego clash and cricket, but also takes a side of social commentary in a subtle way. Cricket in India is an emotion, especially for 80s, 90s, and early 2000s kids. The director cleverly uses it without any forced attempts and cliche, cringe scenes. The film speaks about caste issues in a subtle way. It's not forced. Humour is another good factor in the film. It easily and beautifully blends with every scenes. The Captain Vijaykanth reference is so nice. This is the best tribute for the late actor. The film is so grounded and realistic. Sean Roldan just dropped a heartwarming album for the film. Songs and BGM are so beautiful. Overall a very good movie experience. A superb movie. Easily one of the finest theatrical experiences.
