MAN OF CINEMA
This film shows a Malaysian country in a whole different perspective, a country
which is widely mixed with different religions and migrants from its neighbouring countries. Here also we see two chinese brothers, who are orphans and struggling in a poverty-stricken and crime-ridden neighborhood of Malaysia. The film shows how so many people despite being born in Malaysia have to prove their citizenship because their parents were migrants. Because of this these people live in land where they feel they don't belong, can't live a happy and loving life. One of the brothers is deaf and dumb, so his performance gives an extra emotional layer to film. That character is played by Kang Ren Wu and what an extraordinary performance he has given. Some might feel the pacing is slow, but it was required, to tell those emotions and trauma these characters were going through everyday in their life and that bond between two brothers. This film will make you feel privileged to have certain basic things in your life which many die to have. The story should have added more layers to the character development of another brother, should have invested little more on him. I felt it was heavily focused on one brother. But i really loved some of the nuances in their daily mundane life, the sudden plot twist and the brilliant performances.
